Mastic gum (also known as Mastagi Roomi) is a sap (plant resin) extracted from the trunk of Pistacia Lentiscus. It is commonly used in Ayurvedic and Unani medicine for ulcer healing, antispasmodic, and aphrodisiac properties. It relieves menstruation and muscle discomfort. It can be used to treat heartburn, gastritis, ulcers, and indigestion.
Key Benefits of Mastic Gum
- Mastic Gum fortifies the stomach and intestines. It forms a protective layer on the stomach linings, preventing hyperacidity.
- The impact of appetite stimulants stimulates appetite.
- Carminative effect alleviates flatulence and abdominal distension.
- When combined with Ashwagandha, it acts as a health tonic and aids in general debility.
Bad Breath (Halitosis)
Mastic gum is an effective bad breath cure. Chewing mastic gum helps to refresh the breath and eliminates foul breath odor.
Mastic gum's antibacterial effect decreases germs in the mouth that cause bad breath. Most bacteria proliferate in the mouth as a result of the breakdown of food particles. This reaction causes a bad odor in the mouth. Poor dental hygiene is the second most common cause.
Chewing Mastic gum eliminates food particles, prevents bacteria growth due to antibacterial action, and cleans the teeth, reducing bad breath and making one feel refreshed.
Dental Plaque
Dried mastic gum powder can be used to naturally remove tooth plaque. Mastic gum toothpowder also strengthens the gums and teeth, which aids in the prevention of tooth decay.
The following tooth powder prevents all forms of dental issues and treats foul breath, pyorrhea, toothache, and tooth yellowness.
Heartburn & Indigestion
Mastic gum appears to lower gastric acid levels in the stomach. In most cases, 500 mg mastic gum is used with 1000 mg licorice powder to provide instant relief from heartburn.
In Ayurveda, Amla, Praval Pishti, and Mukta Pishti are added to the Heartburn and Indigestion treatment, in addition to mastic gum and licorice. This mixture treats indigestion (dyspepsia) and heartburn in 2 to 4 weeks.
Chronic Gastritis
On stomach linings, mastic gum has a mild anti-inflammatory effect. It is used with licorice and Vanshlochan (Bamboo Manna) to boost its anti-inflammatory activity.
GERD
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is characterized by a weak lower esophageal sphincter valve, which causes acid reflux. Mastic gum is really effective in this situation for supplying strength to the valves. It also contains antacid properties, which help to alleviate GERD symptoms.
Peptic & Duodenal Ulcer
Helicobacter Pylori, the bacteria that causes ulcers, is combated with mastic gum powder. It has the capacity to inhibit and bacteriolyze H. Pylori. Mastic gum has been demonstrated in recent research to be beneficial in treating stomach and intestinal ulcers.
Mastic gum is also beneficial in treating other causes of ulcers, such as the use of NSAIDs and other medications that can cause erosion of the stomach or intestinal mucosa. Mastic gum forms a protective coating on the linings of the stomach and intestines, preventing and treating ulcers.
Bed Wetting (Enuresis)
Mastic gum with Gum Acacia and Chandraprabha Vati is good to children who have bedwetting or enuresis.
