China's Han-dynasty court brought cloves, which were traditionally kept in the mouth to perfume the emperor's breath during audiences.

Uses:
Cloves are now utilised in a variety of meals, ranging from fruit and confectionery toppings to baked items, as well as in perfumes and incense.
Diabetes
The journal "Food Chemistry" reported a study that demonstrated clove extract and nigericin, a component of clove extract, improved insulin resistance in mouse muscle cells. Diabetes mice given nigericin demonstrated decreased insulin resistance and improved glucose tolerance, insulin production, and beta cell activity. Another animal investigation discovered that clove bud powder had an effect on laboratory indicators in a diabetic rat model. They discovered that rats given clove powder had lower blood sugar levels than rats in the control group who did not receive clove powder.
